Running IC reports for one of our companies never finishes

We are running our end of the month reports, and for one of our companies running the On Hand Detail Report never gets past the generating stage even if we let it sit for hours. The specific task "TASK####.exe" has a constant network usage so something is happening, but it will never fully finish generating. So far this is the only module we are having issues with. Have tried restarting the server but still having issues. Any idea what could be causing only this report to never be able to finish?

    Actually trying to run more reports, seems like all reports in the IC module just endlessly "generate" and never produce anything.

    Backup your problem company.

    Call Tech support at Sage.

    They will ask if you have re-indexed.  You could try re-indexing on your own if your comfortable wit the task. but read below first.

    WARNING The IC module is connected with Order entry and Accounts Rec that there is a specific order to re-index.  I look up in the HELP for the correct order.

    Or you will get errors that the databases are out of sequence.

    Figured it out. Somehow we had a blank part which was causing a lockup when running a full IC report, found this by doing a specified part report running fine. Renaming the blank part then deleting cleared it up.

    Secondary question, is there a reason this happens? About 4 years ago we had the same problem.

    I am glad you were able to resolve your issue with the blank part. For more information regarding blank parts, please see resolution ID# 18705 Reports freeze or will not generate when a blank part record exists in Maintain Parts. Unfortunately, it has not been determine what would have caused your blank part. In an older version, some have had issues with blank parts due to an issue with importing items into inventory - though that issue was resolved in v2013 sp 2 (KB ID #20393). In some case, customer may have has a network interruption while posting in Sage BusinessWorks. But at this time, the cause of blank parts is still being reviewed.
