Payroll - employee transfer

I have a company with 5 different division and each are set up as a "company" in BusinessWorks.  When we do our quarterly filings we combine the divisions into one.  The question I have relates to an employee that was transferred from one division to another.  Right now I do a journal entry to move his wages and taxes.  Can I export/import his information along with tax withholding/payment to the other division.  I don't want the system to think he is a new employee.

    Phillip - Technically there is no simple option for moving employees detail from one company to another.  You will need to reissue checks in the new company to have the totals for that employee calculate taxes and tax reports correctly.  In Sage BusinessWorks, we calculate tax reports based on check detail - therefore a check would need to be issued for those numbers to appear in any tax reports.  Otherwise, you would need to manually monitor tax calculations and edit tax reports to reflect the correct #s for your company.  I would recommend if you have additional questions regarding this process and your possible options, please call support  at 800-447-5700.
