***IMPORTANT*** "Error 3016" accessing tasks in Sage BusinessWorks after AVAST update

This issue appears to be tied to the Avast DeepScreen scan. 

To resolve:

  1. In Avast, go to Settings, General and deselect Enable DeepScreen
  2. Right click on the Avast icon and disable Avast for 10 minutes
  3. Launch Sage BusinessWorks
  4. Right click on Avast and enable it again

 

If the error persists after performing the above steps it will be necessary to uninstall Pervasive and the Sage BusinessWorks program using the Windows Control Panel.

To uninstall Pervasive SQL, use the Windows Add or Remove Programs option.

  1. Click the Start button, point to Settings and Control Panel, and then click Add or Remove Programs.
  2. Select Pervasive, and then click Remove. Note:The following options are available depending on what is installed on the workstation or server:
  • At the client workstation: Select Pervasive PSQL V10 Client (32-bit), and click the Remove button.

To uninstall the Sage BusinessWorks Client:

  • Start, Control Panel, Programs and Features
  • Select Sage BusinessWorks Client
  • Select Uninstall

To reinstall the Sage BusinessWorks Client:

  • In Windows Explorer, browse to the ..Sage\BWProg\Client Setup\ folder on the server.
  • Double-click Autorun.exe. Note: The executable program is called bwsetup.exe in Sage BusinessWorks version 7 and earlier.
  • Follow the wizard steps. If prompted, install Adobe and Internet Explorer.
  • Follow the wizard steps to install Sage BusinessWorks. Verify the UNC paths point to the server's \BWProg\ and \BWData\ folders.
  • During the install if you are prompted for a user login, enter the Windows network administrator user ID and password.
