Job Transaction Report

SUGGESTED

I need to know what table the Job Transaction Report pulls from.  I am trying to create a custom report and I need all the data, but I need to know where the data from the Reference field is stored so that I can include it in my report.  How do I go about finding this?

Cstanley1234 - The Reference field is going to come from the transaction that is being posted. Charges, billings, credit memos,...etc all have their own reference field. For more about tables and fields, please see Knowledge Base article ID # 19339 "Where do I find the table and field names?". This article will give you the names and field definitions for all of the Sage BusinessWorks modules.
    Thanks,

the instructions are a bit screwy.

Once you search the Knowledgebase (KB) ,the article reads to:

    Go to Sage Businessworks Homepage

    Select Sage BusinessWorks News

    Expand Features sheets

The sixth item down is the File Formats

SCROLL down to the bottom of the page

    LOOK for ATTACHMENTS

there is your link to the PDF document for file formats

I have reviewed and still cannot determine how the data was obtained. On the job transaction report..it links different tables together, in my experience there has to be a common column in order to link it together so that the data is in the correct column. I have pulled every table from Job Cost and cannot find a common thread. I need this to create a different type of report and I am having no success at all. Any other suggestions?

the LINKable parts of a table are named SK & FK
Read the descriptions of those and it should give you the link to names or tables

also some things are not in the documentation
when & where to link the SEQ - record sequence number

I thought they were the linkable part of the tables, however I do not understand how that link... for example... on Job Transaction Report... it shows the job name... from what I can tell that comes from the table JCJOB...it also shows the invoice number from our vendor for that job.. that comes from JCPHASECHARGE... I have looked and they have nothing in common that would tell the system that the information is related in anyway.

If you have Crystal Reports or Microsoft Access, I found those better tools to visualize the "relationships"

In MS Access you can view the data in the tables and then "link" in Relationships

Your going to have to poke around, I've never messed with JC module. I'm very good with AR, INV, OE

You may have to start small, choose an easier report to re-create from BW and then tackle the "monster"

When you start the monster, save under time marked file names ( JOBCOSTREPORT-2016-11-18-1100)
and save often. I messed up a major report some years ago and couldn't go backwards (read: start from scratch)

I don't have access to the JC except in Demo
