If you have the Custom Pack add-on (comes standard with Client Server Edition) there is a feature call Document Linking.

The Document Linking feature enhances the existing Notepad functionality. It allows you to link Microsoft Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, text files, images and virtually any other available document type, as a notepad line.

If you are using any other version than CSE, go to Help > About Sage BusinessVision > Licenses, there you would see the Custom Pack license.
