The period end date in Sage 50 has no accounting effect.  I believe it's only FYI for the employee and required by law to be on the pay stub.  It may also be used by Sage Time Slips but that webinar isn't 'till Monday.

Since the actual payment date to the employee is used both for accounting and for remittance, can you not just enable transactions in the next year and fire out the cheque?

Hi Roger what is your Pay Period End Date for your last Pay Run for this year?

end date for last 2017 pp is dec 23

end date for first 2018 pp is jan 4th, paid jan 11th

sage won't allow either end date nor check date beyond dec 31st

so as suggested,  I made a copy of the company file, updated it to 2018 and printed the cheque, which I will duplicate with the real company file in January

and I sent in feedback for sage to call quickbooks to find out how to fix the problem - LOL ,,,,

I guess if it was me I would of put it all into the old year, cut a cheque  and then do a journal entry to move the portion that belongs in the new year.

but i need today's computer printed check date to be jan11/18 (postdated) - which i can't do 'in 2017' using the pro-version
