I am afraid your description sounds about right.

I am assuming you mean receipts, not recipes but if you are using the Accountant's Edition, you can add new accounts, otherwise you can only rename them.

Reconciliations have to be done outside the program.

I'm not sure where you need to enter the credit card numbers but if you are talking about the ledger for the chart of accounts, then yes, there is no spot for them, but then again, it's not required.

there are two different Visa cards four different Mastercards and an Amex but I don’t know if I can seperate them or if I can only bulk them all under the type of card they are.

Yes you can rename the accounts.

I don't know how many accounts are listed in the default liabilities section but you can rename liabilities as well to whatever credit card you need.  However, I would also look at the concept that one statement should be one account, even if there are three cards that share it.  It is much easier to reconcile that way.

You have not offered the information about whether you are a business partner using the Accountant's Edition for your client but if you are you can create new accounts.  If not and you need new accounts, you can ask a consultant/accountant who has that edition to help you out.

Just go through the menus.  Tools, For My Accountant, Account Information.

I response to this message, welcome to Sage 50 Accounting. I know this is your first time but if you want to learn about the receipts, visa statements and bank reconciliation and other topics, my advice is to order Sage 50 Accounting Levels 1 & 2 or register for Sage University and take the training course curriculum and they have classes online or in-person, order books from each level including Level 2 Accounting Modules, Level 2 Payroll Module and Level 3 Power User.

Once you register, start by going to Level 1 Learn the Basics online for free and then start Level 2 in both Accounting and Payroll Modules, Level 3 Power User and Level 4 Application Specialist.

Farzan: This is a great suggestion for someone using Sage 50 Pro or above. It is my experience, however, that these courses do not help much with the FIrst Start version as it is so limited in what the user can do to make the changes requested. Richard's suggestion of finding an accountant consultant using the Accountants Version is the best alternative.
