Scrambled data exported when using ODBC data connection in Excel for Vendor Banking information table (tVenDP)

When using the Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) in Excel to extract banking information of vendors (table: tVenDP) from sage data base, couple of fields spits out scrambled data (fields: sBankNo, sTransitNo, and sAccountNo).

We think it might be security reasons, but unsure how to allow permission to export data to Excel.

It would be great if we can get more information regarding why this is happening and how we can fix it.

    Hi,

    The encryption looks similar to what's used in tUser for passwords.  Looks like it's designed that way for security.

    Other than the information that's already in tPmtHdr, I don't see anywhere that you can access it.  If you have a support contract with Sage they may be able to tell you more.

    As this is primarily a peer support forum, and I don't work for Sage, all I can tell you is that it does that on my computer too.

    i.e. Branch number:

    12346 is stored as o5+JTtbW6YXJaxYnOb4Klg==

    12345 is stored as wW8dSb39dkgK6EgGdRZ07Q==

    Do a web search for "encryption ending in ==" and you'll probably find more than you ever wanted to know about 16 byte / 128 bit hashing.

    Security issues aside, since bank EFT uses that data, and EFT is a paid add-on, you may not get much help with decrypting those fields.
