Projects Allocation

SOLVED

All of my entries are allocated to one project or another.  However, I just received a message "One or more Projects on line 1 have been removed"!

Therefore all allocations that I made since April 1st have been removed.  Why would this happen and can it be fixed without going back and reallocating every entry that has been made?

    SElizabeth,

This happens because you removed a project that was used for allocation in all those transactions.

You will need to to recreate that project, look up and adjust each transactions using this project before and allocate them back.

    Hope this helps.

No the project wasn't removed - I created the project at the beginning of my fiscal year and just got around to entering the budget in it.  Once the budget was entered then I started to receive those messages.  I never had this problem before by creating a project and later on entering the budget.

Sorry, but it was indeed removed. It is easy to end up with two projects with very similar names. Likely this is what happened. Someone realized this and removed the one with the inconsistent project name.  EG. Project 1 was called: 123 Main Street and Project 2 was called: 123 Main Str. Allocations were made to both and then one of them was deleted before first checking if any entries had been allocated to it.

    Hi SElizabeth,

Thanks to Amy for the further explanation.

It can also be the project was removed accidentally and then created again later with the exact same project name.  Again, even though the new project has the same name as the old one, but they are indeed different projectd.

    Hope this helps

Thanks for your advice - in order to save time from having to adjust each transaction, I simply restore a backup from the day prior to my problem and entered the budget as of that day; therefore, I only have to re-enter any transactions from there on!
