Year End reports

SOLVED

Hi, just more curious......At one time it was recommended to print off all kinds of reports for year end. I've noticed this really isn't on the checklist anymore, does that mean it isn't necessary? I really never did it anyway as I felt Sage kept all the information.....or maybe I should have been??

Thanks,

Alana

Simply Accounting / Sage 50 started storing data in a more secure way in 2008, and while you can't have too many backups, it might not be as necessary to grind it all out on paper, as it was 20 years ago.

Most accountants will prepare financial statements and tax returns from your company file data, so as long as they can open your file in Sage 50 or in their CaseWare or other audit software, they can prepare your year end without all the printouts.

In today's increasingly paper-less world, it might be enough to export your reports as PDF files (making sure all the columns print on one page!!) and store them in a couple of safe locations, along with your backups.

When I look at the checklists for Calendar and Fiscal Year End, it still looks like a *lot* of reports to print. I don't see a difference between the 2015.3 and 2016.2 software.

Thank you for your response, it would be a lot less cluttered for sure not to print them off. Like I say, I've never had an issue with our accountant yet by not printing them.....(knock on wood!)
