Entering data after year end

Whatever your fiscal year is, you obviously need to keep entering data after that and before the year end, but when I try to start a new year Sage keeps giving me the following message:

YOU HAVE TO FINISH ENTERING ALL HISTORICAL INFO BEFORE STARTING A NEW FISCAL YEAR.  ARE YOU FINISHED ENTERING HISTORICAL INFORMATION FOR ALL MODULES.

There may still be items that come in for December, but I also need to start entering 2015 information and it won't let me enter anything beyond December 31, 2014.

Help !!!!!

  • Hi Axelan,

Since it looks like you are using Sage 50 CA, I am going to move this post to that Support Group so that other users of this software will see it and can offer their thoughts and insight.

    Thanks,

    Derek

In Sage 50 CDN you cannot advance beyond the end of your fiscal year until you have completed the entry of all necessary historical information prior to starting Sage 50. If you have a new company with no entries required prior to 2014 then you can close History. If you have all entries made for the information necessary from prior to 2014 such as Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable then you can move to the next step. Go to Maintenance/Check Data Integrity and if the message near the bottom of the window is not Data OK then check the six lines above to determine where the error is and find the missing information to correct it. Check the Data Integrity again and when it is ok then make a back up. Go to the History tab and finish history.

Now try advancing the year. If there is still a problem it has to be corrected to allow the year end processing. Also, you will have to advance the Session Date to the first day of the new year. In this process you may get a message indicating that old data may be deleted, answer No and carry on. Once the New Year is started you can go back and advance the Session Date to any date you want in that year.

Never allow the program to clear old data as this hinders the look up of old data for prior years. The extra space required on the hard drive to maintain this data is minimal unless you have a company with 10,000 plus entries a year and even then think twice before deleting the data.
