Customer types? I need a way to group customers.

SOLVED

Sage 50 Premium 2017 - using departments and projects already.  I need a way to group my customers by type - or use some other field. The goal is to be able to print the AR aging report that would include only "dealers" or "manufacturers" or "end-user", etc.  Something similar to Job Category that is used for Employees.

Can anyone provide some input for me please?

The closest you will get within the program is using the Customer Aged report and Saving a template of each group, then running them either from the Customer Aged reports or from My Reports. You will have to know which company is which to set it up and you will have to manually manage additions to each version of the report.

Another option would be the Balance owing on the Grouped Customer List report using one of the Additional Info fields as your Customer Type. However, this report does not show the aging and is not date-sensitive.

Otherwise you will have to get into some custom reporting. One method would be using both the Grouped Customer List Report showing the Customer Type Additional Info field, the Customer Aged report and using Excel functions to combine them together. Or you could go to a completely different reporting program that can be programmed to get you that information.

Thanks. That's the conclusion I had come to as well. :(

Could you preface the names of those in the smaller 2 groups?
i.e. if you have mostly end-users and a smaller number of dealers and manufacturers, place an underscore _Bob Dealer for dealers and a hyphen -Acme for manufacturers (or whetever preferred characters). Then when producing A/R aged report, it is easy enough to select all _Names as they'll appear at the top of the list together. The _ or - are unobtrusive enough on invoices, etc... (better than prefacing with (M) and (D) for example.)

That's already going to happen. We actually need three levels of AR analysis - one by product (yes, I know about inventory items), one by the client who receives the services and one by the provider of the service. We are like a broker - like insurance. John Smith buys house insurance and car insurance and we set him up with ABC Insurance. Mary Hacker buys car insurance through XYZ Underwriters and Susan Waynut buys car insurance from ABC. I need the AR by type of insurance, by John, Mary and Susan and also by the underwriter. So - looks like templates is the way to go.
