How to copy chart of accounts to new company?

SOLVED

in Simply Accounting 2011 Premium version E, how can I copy the chart of accounts from one company to a new company?

To copy the COA to a new company:

Export the account list (Sage calls it a 'Ledger') from the old company.

Import the account list into a new company.

The Export and Import functions are under the File menu.  You will have to be in 'single user mode' and have sufficient rights, in order to access the COA.

@ RandyW -Sorry if it appears I reject your answer.  I accept it - it worked!

Now, why is it not possible to restore from Simply Accounting Premium 'single user mode'  backup to Simply Accounting Pro?  Is there just no way? Think it will ever be possible in future?  I do not want to be purchasing the Premium version ad infinitum.  Needed it for a few years, but no longer.  Thanks.

The reason is that there are additional data fields and functionality in 'Premium', that are not in 'Pro'.

It's like moving from a house to an apartment without a balcony, there's no safe place to set up the barbecue, so it can't be moved.

A 'data repair' company, such as Code Six (www.code-six.com) may be able to help you.

It's possible that Sage could be working on it now, but it's hard to do, and costs a lot to develop, implement, and test.  If I were with Sage, and deciding how to propose adding this functionality, aware that it could potentially would reduce sales revenue from existing Premium clients... I would look at the equation as high cost + negative benefit = not likely to happen.

I think I would also make the case that it's better for a customer to switch from Sage 50 Premium to Sage 50 Pro, than to lose that customer to a competitor.   (btw, we had a consultant offer to monkey a set of books from Sage 50 to QB.  It didn't even almost work.  Caveat Emptor!)

My recommendation is to get a quote on converting from Premium to Pro.
