Database connection won't run

I downloaded the student version of Sage 50 (I have previously downloaded it before on a different computer with no problems). I  just got a new laptop and now once it is installed I can not get it to properly run. It says how the database connection won't run. I have tried going through programs to the database connection and run it. I have also gone through the adminstrative tools and services and tried to run it but it says I do not have administrative rights. However, I went into my user accounts and it says I am in fact the administrator.

I called Sage customer service and they were absolutely no help.

Any help would be appreciated - I need to work on my term project ASAP.

  • What version of Sage and what version of windows? I know there has been some issues with Windows 8.

    You might want to type in search box above 'student version' and click on Sage 50 Canadian on left side to limit queries to Canadian SAge 50 only - this may help you find a solution.

    You might even want to type 'windows 8' and see what comes up.

    You may want to follow this Knowledge Base article and give it a try.

    Error: "The Connection manager service could not be started. You need administrator rights on this computer to start the service." - KB15327

  • Hi Ajfatum. Did you ever get it running? I'm having the exact same problem as you did and I've tried everything suggested by Sage in the knowledgebase, the community, Help, etc.

  • Hi Ajfatum. Have you tried to run Sage 50 as Administrator? (Not the connection manager, but the program itself)
