File will not open

I am receiving the following message when I try to open the file Helena.SAI - Sage 50 Student Version

Adobe Reader could not open 'Helena.SAI' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)

Can anyone help me?

I seem to recall that a student version file can only be opened in a student version program. Be sure that you are using the Student Version of Sage 50 Canadian.

I am using both the Student DVD and downloaded the Student files from Sage - Any other suggestions?

Can you shed some light on how you are opening the file?  Many people will open the program and choose "Select an existing company", "Open a recently used company", or if the program is open, they will select File, Open to change files.

Sounds like you are double-clicking the Helena.sai file and Windows file associations are kicking in to open Acrobat Reader because your file associations in Windows are misdirected.  If that's the case, then try one of the above methods or you will have to look at file associations.

This is the path I am following

    C:/SageDate14/Cash/Helena/Helena SAI File - 1KB

There is no individual file under Helena. I can only find Helena under the subfolder "Cash"

There is an obvious problem with my disk.  The next lesson "Limelight" does not have payroll files at all.

Is there anyone who can help me out with this or make a suggestion that would be helpful.

As you can tell, I am experiencing extreme frustration at not being able to correct this problem

Sorry, I thought what I suggested was helpful.  Since you have not indicated the answer to my question, I am not sure I can help much further.  I do not know anything about the course you are taking so I don't know the files used or why Limelight may not have "payroll files".

Assuming this means you are trying to open a file called Helena.sai, then the Helena.sai file is an individual file.  If that file does not exist in the path you have indicated, then there is little chance you will get the company file to open properly.  Each set of Sage 50 company files is made up of a *.sai file and a *.saj folder (in your case Helena.sai and Helena.saj) stored in the same location (eg. the ...Cash\Helena Folder).  You open the Sage 50 company file with the *.sai file.  If both do not exist in the C:\SageDate14\Cash\Helena folder then you need to restore those files again.  In any case, I don't know why it would be wanting to open with Acrobat if you open Sage 50 and then select the Helena.sai file.
