unscheduled paycheck for casual labor

client is moving office location with the help of hourly staff, they are paying staff for the work done, which is subject to source deductions

do I just create another income called 'Irregular income', with the same selection as regular hours, to record the amount and deduct EI,CPP,tax

and since a check has been issued, I could use a clearing bank for the paycheck, and generate two actual checks from the clearing bank - the one already issued, and a paycheck ?

You can create as many accounts as necessary to record wages, this should not create any concerns. However, if you create an extra paycheque for an employee you are inviting a Pier Report error. The CPP deduction is going to calculate an error because of the extra pay. Why not just pay the full amount owing all on one cheque? You have indicated that the one cheque has already been prepared, then add the hours to the next regular pay cheque, even if it is in 2015. The employees are still being paid and it is rare that the extra payment will make a difference to them. They'll remember the deduction 'error' longer.

because the irregular income payment was done on a non-payroll check over the weekend, thus the need to use a clearing bank (for the full paycheck amount) and split the actual paycheck into two physical checks

I also run the Pier report prior to the last paycheck of the year, so that CPP can be adjusted

too bad Sage doesn't have an 'unscheduled check' option to allow more than 26/52/53 checks per year
