I hope this is not seen as a thread hijack - I have the same problem.  Although, while I am not getting an error message, my sysadmin password fails when attempting to use the Company File Check & Repair Tool.  My password is good - and works otherwise - just not with the File Checker.  I have tried changing the password (successfully) and have tried compacting the dataset first. Also have tried restoring to previous backups - but no success. I've been searching the Internets for two days without luck either. - Brad

that is odd - I have no answers to this but what versions are you guys using?

I am using Simply Accounting Pro 2010 & love it.

We have Sage50 2013.Pro.  And so far so good.  Our issue was that we could not rollover into a new calendar year. Other threads on other forums suggest the fix is the run the Company File check tool - not from with the program, but standalone from the start menu.  Our sysadmin password is good, we have no problem accessing our data with it or even changing the password - but the File checker refuses the password and so does not run.  And Sage support needs $150CDN for a new support contract yet will not guarantee any repair.

Arrghh!

So far I have not found anyone online with a similar problem until this forum.

Over this past weekend we were able to fix things.  We located a file of 0 size (tpjbfwdl.frm) that in previous versions is 8.61kb.  Copying this file into our current folder fixed our problem. That file was referenced in "errorlog.txt" under the backups folder and was easy enough to find after knowing where to look.

Our original trouble was in changing to a new year, but this thread is about the File Checker failing due to an incorrect password.  We no longer are having that problem.  Correct the single bad file has fixed things for us.

So glad this worked for you bpears. I've checked my tpjbfwdl.frm file & it is 8.61kb, which seems right from the size you mention in your message. However, you did prompt me to check the error log, and the message:-

Error in my_thread_global_end(): 2 threads didn't exit

Hi Old Salt,

If you never setup a password but the file check & repair option still ask you to have one.  Please try to create one for the sysadmin account of your data file by going to setup, set up users.  Then, run the the DBverifier again for company check and repair.

For unhandled exception error, there are numerous reason to generate the message, you can go to our knowledge base at https://support.na.sage.com and search for that.  It will give you about 20 articles with this messages.  You can look at each of them and see which one does fit your situation.

I have tried setting up a password for sysadmin in my data file, which works fine to access the data, but I still get an invalid password error when I try to run the file check & repair option. I'll go through the knowledge base again, but it was there that I discovered the file check & repair option - which I am unable to use, because it won't accept my password....... I seem to be in a loop........

If your user name and password are still invalid even you have removed or reset them, your user table can be corrupted and data repair is needed.   If you are currently using 2014 with a service plan or still have your warranty call, please do not hesitate to give us a call by 1-888-522-2722 for further troubleshooting.
