Transfer fund problem: CND shows in USD

SOLVED

Hi there,

I have transferred some US dollars to the Canadian fund, and the postings are like follows.

Entries are:

DR      Cash in Bank($CAN) 11,417($CAN)  (as is shown on the Canadian fund bank stmt)

CR      Cash in Bank($USD)  10,000($USD) (As is shown on the US fund bank stmt)

CR      Gain or loss on Foreign Exchanges 1417

My question is the amount of $11,417 is already the exact Canadian dollars after transfer, but the report shows this $11,417 in USD amount.

I think the problem is that when I post the JE, I chose the USD Currency. But other amount like bank charges are in US dollars, how to show this $11,417 in Canadian dollars

Here are screenshots:

Thank you for any help!

    Hi amber126,

Whenever you change the Currency box to USD in a General Journal, the currency used in the transaction will be using US dollars.

If you want to make sure the Canadian account has the Canadian amount you want, pay attention to the Exchange Rate you use.

In your case, you have 1US dollar = 1.1601197CAD dollar.  Therefore, 11417US dollar to your Canadian account becomes 13246.09CAN dollar.

    Hope this helps

Hi , thanks for your help!

I've changed the exchange rate, and then the entries are like:

These are the amount I want to show on the CDN bank amount.

One more question, If I post like these, is there any exchange gain or loss involved? I didn't see it in this JE entry.

    Thanks!
