Viewing equity common shares account and recording a personal purchase to this account

SOLVED

I am posting a dentist bill paid by the company credit card and want to know which equity account to use (common or preferred shares) there is also a debit balance to both of these accounts and I would like to view the entries in these accounts 1. to see if the bill has already been entered (I cannot find it through vendor payables), and 2. to see what has been recorded to these accounts.  Any help would be appreciated

You would not use the Shares account to record anything except for transactions involving shares.

You should have a Shareholder Loan or Owners Equity account which can be a liability or equity account.

That is where you would debit the dentist bill.

In the main Sage/Simply window go to Report then scroll down to Financial then over to General Ledger. From there select the equity accounts and also select the start and from dates - if you have previous years then you can also select the Fiscal Year to see if they contain any transactions for the equity account.

    Hope that helps.
