Scrambled Displays

I've had an issue spanning years and different computers with certain reports being skewed on screen. The Bank Rec, for instance.

Tab to Expense or Income and the column widths are changed EVERY time I open it. Account column may be squished to 4 characters and Amount column to 80.  Next time something different.  I resize them or reset to Default.  Very annoying.

Sage Support people tell me its my computer not the program. I have a new computer and download the new program and start new company files ...no improvement.

Attached is an image of another constant error in the selection window for A/P (A/R is the same). All is well until selecting 'Summary' or 'Detail' and this happens.  Scrolling names is not affected. But the upper half of the image stays fixed. As I wave the mouse over the fixed area the radio buttons appear so that I can select them.

This is a real mystery. Feedback?

Try changing the widths to what you want then close bank rec by going into File, then scroll down to Exit. I find this works better for keeping changes to other modules within Sage instead of just clicking on the X in upper right corner.

The problem is the settings for the window display --stored internally in the data-- has a few BAD records and needs to be purged and reset. Kinda like an annoying rattle in your car, eventually the car needs to be sent to a mechanic to tighten up a bolt to fix it once and for all. Contact me at Business Innovations Tech for a quote

    Hi,

Pay particular attention to step 1, back up your data before you do this, and you should ONLY use the 'clear window positions' part of the utility,

DO NOT 'Select all four check boxes'

    See https://partners.sagenorthamerica.com/irj/go/km/docs/sageKM/Simply%20Accounting%20by%20Sage/Ungated%20Customers/simply16592.html

If you aren't comfortable doing this yourself, by all means you should contact a Sage Partner:

I'm not sure why Sage tech support would not have done this, however if they did, and it didn't permanently fix the problem, check the video card manufacturer's website for an updated driver.

As GWG explained, the settings for each window, for each user, for each screen resolution, are all stored.  So if the video card is frequently changing resolutions, (i.e. if a monitor loses power, or crashes, or keeps changing its resolution) the Sage software is going to be constantly trying to set up new combinations of screen resolution and window size.  Single and dual-monitors will give you a completely new set of settings.

    I hope that helps,

    Randy

P.S.  I don't work for Sage, so I 'don't have a dog in the fight', as the saying goes.  If the system hardware is flaky, the software will be flaky, too.   Your description of half the screen moving around and staying in place sounds like a system problem.

Computers are relatively cheap these days, and time spent fiddling with something that kind of works, is money wasted.
