Filing T4 and T4A

1 minute read time.

Quick blog update to cover T4 filing, both in paper format and electronic, as well as T4A filing which is new as of the last payroll update.  Note, you will need to have a payroll plan to be able to generate T4 forms automatically from Sage 50. For paper T4 filing you can find that option under Reports-Payroll and just select T4.  Then a guide will come up enabling you to select employees and other options; users can review the following article for the full process:

Paper filing T4/RL-1 slips

You can also print on plain paper or preprinted T4 forms, and you can control that setting in setup-settings-government forms-federal payroll and changing the T4 Description to Preprinted or Plain Paper.

The T4 can also be filed online and Sage 50 creates a T4 file that you can upload to the CRA.  You can find the T4 upload process under File-Import/Export-Electronic Filing.  Again there will be a guide that comes up and below I've added the full link to the article:

How to file T4/RL-1s electronically

After the guide is done you can upload your generated T4 file through the CRA website.

With the release of the latest payroll update, T4A forms can now be filled as well.  You can find the option for the report in your Sage 50 product under the menu Reports -> Payables. For insights on how to complete the process you can view our help video, which will goes over the details. We also have our knowledgebase article for this process here:
