Sales by Region

Hello.

We are in the process of updating and expanding our GL accounts so that we can record sales by region. Problem is, we're not quite sure how to set things up so that we can record sales by region. 

Is this done through the customer class?

    Hi,

    To record sales by region you may need to implement GL Account segment named Region, and also if your Customer Classes are setup to match your sales regions you can override sales GL Account Segment by Customer Class in SO Options. The implementation is like one found in SOA test company.

    If you need to match your sales to your expenses, then you'll probably need to report through the GL.

    However, if you only want to analyze sales by region, then you should report through the AR module and save the headache of having to complicate the GL account structure. Also, the AR module will give you more data like the ability to analyze sales by city, metro area (in some countries), etc.
