Question

I have a client who leases space and provides food and beverage for events. She wants us to be able to provide reports that will show the profitability of specific events. So, we would need some way to specify the event in the expense line item, and we would need to be able to something similar with the revenue side. I can't think of anything in Sage 500 that would provide this kind of functionality. Does anyone have any ideas?

The most basic version of this is to simply utilize GL Reference Codes for each transaction related to the event. You set this up in the GL Options and the Set Up GL Reference Codes task. You can then utilize this to report on a specific Reference Code within the GL transactions. Take a look at this and see if it will provide you with the information you need. Otherwise you would have to look at something more involved such as the Project Accounting module.

Hi Stephen, 
 Have you looked at the Project Accounting module? It sounds like you might be able to setup events as a Project and track expenses through it.
