Running SMI Financial Reports when Natural Account is not a 1st segment

Less than one minute read time.

Sage MAS Intelligence with the Report Designer Add-In can be used to run your financial reports when Natural Account is not a 1st segment. You will need to use ‘CONCATENATE’ function in Excel. Here is an example:

100-2100-000-000 – Natural Account is set on the 2nd Segment.

To concatenate display the Natural Account as ‘???-2100’:

In Excel, click on the ‘fx’ or Function Argument

Select the Category as ‘Text’

Select Function as ‘CONCATENATE’, Click on ‘OK’

Function Argument

Enter Text1 and Text2, and click on ‘OK’

  • Zenon,

I have a client whose GL Acct Structure is ?-????-??-NNNN-? - where N is the Natural segment.  I am figuring out that since the Natural Segment is not in the first position, it is causing their report building to be VERY problematic…  They are coming off of FRx which handles this without issue – just like most did things in FRx...

First, I greatly appreciate your above post.  It helped me overcome one hurdle!

My question I have now is dealing with Ranges.  If the natural account were in the first segment we could easily do a range such as (1000 to 1050) and get all accounts from 1000 to 1050.  However, SI apparently does not like a range of (?-????-??-1000-? to ?-????-??-1050-?).

Is it possible to do a range of accounts in Sage Intelligence where the natural account is not in the first position?

    Thanks,

    Barry McCuistion
