How to change the Home Web Page

1 minute read time.

Hello everybody,

I spent last week in New Orleans at Sage Summit. It was a fantastic Sage Summit and I was fortunate enough to have been part of the experience. I got to see familiar and new faces. Great time had by all !!

Here is a tip that shows an easy way to change the Home page that is displayed when you click the Home Navigation area, under the Information Center link. Depending on the Sage 500 version, the screen may look something like the below:

If you wanted to make www.google.com the default page when you click the Information Center link, here is what you would need to do.

For this example, I will show how to change the Information Center link to www.google.com

  1. Make a backup of the Welcome.htm file.  From Windows Explorer, navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Sage Software\Sage MAS 500 Client\Managed Applications\Home.
  2. Right click the file, Welcome.htm and select Copy. Right click in the same folder as in step 1, and select Paste
  3. Launch Internet Explorer and navigate to www.google.com
  4. Once the www.google.com page is displayed, from Internet Explorer select File, Save As and select the name Welcome.htm and the location to be the same as the path in step 1,  overwrite the existing file

Now the change has been made. Let's check our work.  Close down the Information Center tab.  Double click it to reopen. It should now display the Google page, such as below:

You can of course use any webpage as the default, including an internal company page.   The change is local and persists regardless of the company you are in.  I hope this tip helps you set up your own custom page.  Would love to hear feedback from all who have tried this.
