If you decide to use a long weekend for some Sage 500 ERP database maintenance here are a few tips:

Planning for Sage 500 ERP product updates:

  • Product updates are cumulative
  • Product updates are in two parts
  • Review the release notes for details about the update
  • Product updates cannot be rolled back
  • Can’t go to add remove programs and un-install, requires a restore (server) or client re-install
  • Product updates should be installed against a test system first.
  • Thoroughly test 500 ERP, and all customizations.
  • How to determine on which version the client and the server are:

– SQL – Execute SELECT VersionNo from tsmmodule

– Client – Locate EnterpriseRes.dll and look at the properties

  • Version 2013 and 2014 use Sage Advisor application to download and apply
  • Updates installed as a stand-alone application
  • A path is configured for the downloads
  • There is an option to download only or download and install

How to create / recreate a SQL server maintenance job using Sage 500 ERP interface

  • Use the line command: createdb.exe /m located under Sage Software\Sage MAS 500 Database Utilities\DBInstall folder
  • Use the Sage 500 ERP Synchronization utility to create / recreate:
  • Registration sql job - a sql job that attempts to re-register Sage 500 ERP a couple of weeks before the expiry date
  • –QtyOn job – updates PO/SO and pending quantity discrepancies

Since the tech support is closed over the long weekend here are some helpful tips on how to find answers easier:

Knowledgebase tips
