NOTICE: Microsoft Defender deleting executable program files

Microsoft Defender was recently updated and is now deleting executable program files in the Sage 300 software – thinking that those files are malware.  Without those files the program screens will not open.

To prevent Microsoft Defender from deleting the file, users will need to add it to the exclusions and select to exclude the Runtime folder for Sage 300. Once added, reboot your machine. This is important because Windows Defender will continue to delete the .exe files until this exclusion has been added. Please visit Microsoft Defender website or the Microsoft forum for insights on how to exclude files.

For those who's files have been deleted: Users will need to replace the a4wContainerXP.exe file back in to the runtime folder as per our Knowledgebase article 27808. Either copy it back to the computer from a good workstation or do a repair on the Sage 300 Install to bring back the A4WCONTAINERXP.exe and apply the product update that they have on their computer.

We are updating our knowledgebase resource to include more information on this current situation.
