Do you have a designer license?

I would say yes because in the License Manager it says we yes to Reporter, Connector and Designer Licences. Its 1 licence only.

I ran into something similar with an upgrade. I had to delete all the existing reports in the BXDATA folder (there were no custom reports) and then import all the new reports - Report Manager, Tools, Bulk Import/Update. That rebuilt all the new reports and got them working.

In your case you have existing custom reports that you need to keep - you can export your custom reports (Report Manager, right click custom report, Export) then delete everything in BXDATA, then import all the new reports, then import all your custom reports (Report Manager, File, Import Report).

I have similar issue. I installed multiversion Accpac on my local computer and switch versions by changing folders. I have accpac 56, 60 worked fine. After I installed accpac 61 (300 erp 2012) then the BI connector license only works on accpac 61. I installed accpac 62 (300 erp 2014). The BI connector worked but won't work a few days later do not why how long. It looks after switched to other version or restart computer. Anyway, I have accpac 55,56,60,61,62 installed on my local computer. The BI connector only works for switching to accpac 61. It looks the license managing issue. I am sure I have all the licenses and registered/activated.  Hope Sage can solve/explain this.

In both instances of our install, we did not import old reports into BI. We tried the new reports first, then realised it didnt work, so we imported the old reports and they worked.

Each time, there was a clean install so, i dont know if deleting after installing will help but i will ask his opinion. Anything we try now can only help as this is 2 months we have been trying to find a solution to this problem. Many thanks!

Running multiple versions that include 6.1 and 6.2 do not work well - you will have issues. The best is to use VMs for the different versions. I run VirtualBox (www.virtualbox.org) , it is free, fast and an Oracle product.

Since I don't know what steps were followed with your upgrade etc, was the old version uninstalled before installing the new version? Is the PATH clean - i.e. you do not have multiple references to a Runtime folder for different versions.

It was a clean install because we had to get new servers. We wanted to have separate servers for database and software as our database is so big...

I'm actually asking about the workstations.... not the server. You are running Sage 300 on workstations right? Or are you using terminal server?

yes we are running on workstations. and all older versions were uninstalled. we switched from pervasive to SQL so had to ensure any files related to pervasive was removed.

What about the PATH? I see it all the time, people forgot to clean up the PATH and there is a PATH pointing to the old version on the old server - and that causes a lot of issues.

Sage 300 support will assist with Sage Intelligence issues. If needed the team can schedule a remote session with Alchemex team. There were reported cases where removing the solver add-in from Excel Add-in helped. If solver Add-in is selected, unchek it, click ok and close Excel. Try the reports again.

Ok so i have tried the solver issue cuz thats something i can do. PATH is something i have to check with consultant on. Will do that as soon as he returns call.

Meanwhile, the solver, when i disable it, does seem to change the error msg i got. it no longer says that i need a designer licence. Now, it just gives 0.00 in the report so it is not pulling data. What i noticed is that the excel gives an error when the designer is enabled in the Add-ins " an unexpected error occurred: exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation.

Not sure what all this means anyway!!

To check the PATH:

On the Windows desktop click Start then type CMD and press Enter on the keyboard.

At the command line prompt type PATH and press Enter.

You will see some text listed, this is the PATH environment variable. There should be only one reference to the Runtime folder.

If you are printing a stock report, which report is it? As for the error message, if you are logged in as user with admin rights, go back to Manage Excel Add-in. For the  report designer add-in, browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\BIExcelFunctions1.1\32bit and select Sage.BI.ExcelFunctions1.1.xll. See if you still get an error.

:( yeah i still got error in excel....

so my results thus far is that i am no longer getting the error message in BI saying Designer Licence required". this is as a result of disabling the solver add-in.

However, i now get an error message saying: The sage intelligence report designer add-in is not responding. i checked and it is in active add-ins list.

I will ask our consultant to delete and re-import the BI reports for the new version and see if that helps.

Failing that and any other great suggestions form the forum, we will have to schedule an online session with the powers that be.

Did you run the workstation install for Sage Intelligence 2014?

If not then browse to

\\WIN-7GLCVIKKNA9\Sage300ERPApps\BX62A\WSSetup

Then right-click Setup.exe and select Run As Administrator.
