Statement Designer crashes Excel 2013

We are running Sage 300 2012 on a server with MS-SQL.  The workstation has Windows 8 (64-bit) with Excel 2013 (32-bit).  When the Statement Designer in Financial Reporter is started, Excel 2013 opens fine, and the worksheet opens fine.  As soon as we select FR View, Excel crashes with a message box "Excel has stopped working".

Office was just upgraded to 2013, and the Statement Designer was working with Excel 2010.  We have tried reinstalling sage on the workstation, but the problem continues.

The Print Financial Statements does work: Excel 2013 opens, the report runs and goes to print preview, and we can print the report.

Is there something in the Excel options that must be adjusted so the Add In works?
