Print Preview not retaining Crystal Report Page settings nor OS default Printer page setting keeps defaulting to "letter"

Wonder if anyone has picked up this issue or whether or not this is considered a "non" issue

Products in question Sage 300 ERP 2012 PU3, Win Server 2008 R2, Workstations OS's vary from Win 7 (64x) to Win XP, Custom written reports Crystal XI, custom page sizes defined.

We noticed at a client, when they where printing invoices (confirmed since that this occurs on any report type) that the print preview will default to the printer as specified within the report but the client has to manually select the paper type each time they want to print (defaults to letter even though custom page size specified in report "invoice") even though the printer and paper type are pre set within the report and the same settings are defaulted within the OS printer settings.

I initially thought this was only on one workstation but have since confirmed that all the workstations in the environment are affected. It doesn't sound like a major issue until you realise that they are printing large volumes of invoices. Has anyone else experienced this and any suggestions as how to get the page setting to save on the custom selection?

We got a solution for this problem

1.instal crystal designer at the workstation which required to print out the invoice

2.open the invoce report file at the crystal report designer

3.change the printer name, paper size, orientation at the printer setup windows from crystal report designer, save it.

4.print the invoice form at accpac.

Hi Eric thanks for the feedback, I agree this seems to work as long as the print destination is set to printer and not to preview. Have you tried your suggestion within Accpac where the print destination is set to preview? I have tried a number of different solutions including those suggested by stevesakoff but so far I am still running into the same issue when the client is set to print preview

There is also KB 210-1005609 "Cannot print to a different printer tray" that may resolve your issue but PU3 should have resolved it. Give it a try. If not, call in to our Support Center so we can help troubleshoot the problem,

    It worked.

This problem is due to when you modified the rpt file on one pc, the crystal rpeort designer save the "paper size id" (not paper size name, ex : inovice) into the rpt file.

When you run the rpt file on another pc, the "paper size id" on that pc did not match the paper you want, so it changed to "letter"

That's why we need to change the paper size from the crystal report designer on the pc required to print invoice form.

We have the same issue - how would this be resolved if the user are all remote sessions logins - then would you need to log into each users login and open crystal designer to save the printer settings.

We have logged in as one user saved the printer settings in crystal but it still reverts to letter and the user has to manually select the paper type each time they want to print (defaults to letter even though custom page size specified in report "invoice") even though the printer and paper type are pre set within the report and the same settings are defaulted within the OS printer settings.

Very annoying as when printing huge volumes the user sometimes forgets to change this
