Since we introduced Sage Intelligence back in Sage ERP Accpac 5.6, we’ve steadily made enhancements to that module such as Reporting Trees and Report Distribution, which were added to Sage 300 ERP 2012.
In case you don’t know Sage Intelligence is a reporting utility that allows for report design in Excel and data analysis for multiple database reporting.
The Reporting Tree enhancement was to allow for modeling a reporting structure and viewing the organization in many different ways. Some companies may have very complex corporate hierarchies that require hundreds of tree units, as well as other hierarchies that require far fewer tree units.
Report Distribution sends reports to a file, FTP site or email in a number of standard formats. The same report can be setup to be distributed to different destinations. In addition, custom criteria can be setup for sending out reports.
With Sage 300 ERP 2012 Product Update 1, we’ve now added Sage Intelligence Report Designer add-in.
The Report Designer Add-in allows users to break down a report into reusable pieces and then control where and how these fit together to create a report. These pieces are Excel functions which communicate with a new in-memory processing engine, which will guarantee performance by being able to crunch financial numbers very quickly.
The new Report Designer add-in enhances the Report Designer module, which presents an alternative to the current report layout generator for users to take control of all design aspects of their reporting layouts.
While the Report Designer Add-in is installed separately, it enhances the Report Designer module. Please note that a Reporter Desiger and a Report Manager license is required.
The positioning of the Report Designer Add-in within the overall Sage Intelligence Reporting product is as follows:
The Report Designer Add-In must always be started by running the Report Designer Add-In report from within the Report Manager.
This report is automatically installed into the Report Designer Add-In folder in the Report Manager during installation.
The Report Designer Add-In will then open in Microsoft Excel:
