URGENT!! .... payroll will not update registers after upgrade

we recently upgraded to erp100 2013  and now we can not do payroll.  when we print checks, it prints the checks  but never completes the program and the print dialog box never leaves unless you manually close it. additionally it does not ask if you want to update the registers   if you close the print dialog box and then try to update the registers you get an error box telling you " checks must be printed."  we have several companies and it does it on all companies.   Any help would be greatly appreciated

  • What version were you on before?

    Here's one lengthy Sage article

  • Also - have you closed the payroll for 2012 (make sure you've printed the W2s and all reports and made a backup).

  • I would say look at #6 in Wayne's KB article - @LastDocument field missing.

  • we went from 4.5 to the latest version     erp100 2013

  • Did you convert the PR check form? Have you tried creating a new one?

  • i checked and it appears that payroll checks do have the @last document in it   but it also apprears that the AP does not.  AP check printing and update registers does not have a problem     the payroll print dialog box has warning stating  check printing previously started.      the one thing that puzzles me is that the print dialog box never goes away. i think it is not completling the check printing process.   what else could cause this.   i dont think the process is completing as the dialog box doesnt go away and it never asks if youwant to update the gegisters when it is finished pringing.   this is the first time to run payroll since the update and more than one company does the same thing at differtn workstations.   my workstation is administrator and my mas90 roll is administrator.   .

  • As Therese asked, did you convert the form or is it a new one?

    Do you use direct deposit?

  • Just ran into this with a 4.3 to 2013 upgrade.  Sage 100 Standard.  They have employees with DD.  After the paper checks print the printing window does not progress and prompt to remove checks from the printer and print DD stubs.  It is written up in the Sage KB - Defect ID 101170.

Sage - when will this be fixed?!

    Special Considerations or Warnings

    Defect ID: 101170

    Issue

Checks can print but are not recognized as printed. No "Remove checks from printer/ Do you want to update” prompt occurs. Get “Checks must be printed” in Check/Register Update

    Solution or Workaround

Target or Version Corrected: Program Fix ¢ Process check run directly on the Sage 100 Server ¢ Use non graphical checks

    Steps to Duplicate

Note: Steps must be run across network
    1. Install 2013 Standard or Advanced 2. Log into 2013 from a workstation 3. Open Payroll Setup and confirm Graphical checks are enabled 4. Create payroll data entry run and run Payroll Tax Calculation 5. Print Checks. 6. Note that the printing status bar shows "Please wait. Loading Crystal. 10%, 20%" then done. No "Remove checks from printer" or "Do you want to update check register" message prompt. 7. Open Check/Register Update. Note the “Checks must be printed” message and you cannot update the check run.
NOTE: the checks are physically printed, but the print window never closes and the check is never marked as Printed in check entry.
  • Ouch.

Have not gotten as far as all of you above,  but I have an interesting thing gooing as well.

Upgrade 4.5 to 2013.  Using graphical MICR checks (printing on bank check stock).   MICR characters are not printing (font is loaded) however when I try to use Crystal 2013 to open it up and check it out,  it says that it cannot open the file so I can't even try to fix it.

Went back and opened it with Crystal 11 on a pre-converted file and everything is cool,  but of course I can't save it to the Crystal 2013 version so that Sage 100 2013 can work with it.

Going to see if Crystal 2013 can open a brand new format next.

Hopefully this does not impact my other forms as well.

  • I'm having the same experience.  Using an Adobe MICR font.  When you view the MICR info in Bank Code Maintenance, MICR characters are displayed.  But they don't print MICR on the check.  Also, when you select "Print", the processing of the check is significantly slower than in prior versions (the better part of a minute on our system).
