Paperless Office Install Failure

Have one work station where the PDF converter for Paperless Office will not install. Here is the install log. Would like to know if anyone else has seen this. And all you Sage Techies lurking, go ahead and post something if you know something. I'll put in a good word with Jeff.

  • BL,

I think it's environment settings. Check the  Windows\System32 is set in the environment settings.

Also make sure CDINTF300.dll isin the system32 directory.

  • Delete the cdintf250.dll if it exists (the 300 version is the one you need).

Also, delete the Extended Solutions printer if it exists.  There is a new printer driver for 4.3 paperless.

  • Well nothing is working. Had my reseller contact Sage Tech Support for the first time in two years and he knew less than I did! (what a surprise :smileywink: )  He was absolutely no help but at least I had a case opened.  I visited the AMY tech board and it seems this is just about an unsolvable mystery.  I suspect that somewhere in the system registery is a hidden entry. *ugh*
  • YES! I was able to resolve this error message and was able to get the driver installed. I sent Sage the exact step by step and it was suppose to be posted to the KB.  The resolution was also posted here.  I have the step-by-step at the office and will post tomorrow if you still need assistance. Basically on the work station you had to edit the registry and delete files and folders in the Windows folder and then it works.

  • Here is the fix I sent to Sage.

    1.      Go into the Control Panel

    2.      Go into the Printer/Faxes folder.

    3.      Delete ALL printers or faxes present.

    4.      Open regedit (e.g. click Start, Run, regedit and press Enter)

    5.      Backup the Registry.

    6.      Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\Windows NT x86\Drivers

    7.      Under this key, there will be the keys Version-2 and Version-3 (one or the other of these may be absent - not a problem). The sub-keys under these contain the printer driver configuration information. Delete all the sub-keys inside Version-2 and Version-3, but not these keys themselves.

    8.      Close the Registry.

    9.      Open Windows Explorer

    10.  Navigate to %systemroot%\system32\spool\drivers\w32x86

    11.  Inside w32x86, there will be folders with the names 2 and 3 (one or more of these may be absent - not a problem). Delete all of the files and sub-folders in each of the 2 and 3 folders, but not the folders themselves.   Inside w32x86, there may be other folders with names starting with "hewlett_packard", "hphp" or something else; delete these folders also.

    12.  Start MAS

    13.  Go to File,Run and type in PL_AdvanceOptions_Ui.

    14.  Click OK

    15.  Install converter.

  • Note that before step 9 you might want to open a command prompt window and stop the print spooler with “net stop spooler” and then start it after step 11 with “net start spooler” at the command prompt. Note that you would have to re-install all printers. We have a network script that installs printers so all the user had to do was reboot his work station.

I do not have that KB article.  If you can locate it and send it to me that would be fabulous.

    Thanks!

How can I send it to you if you don't have an e-mail address posted or in your profile?

  • It would be my guess that there is some HP software running in the background that uses these files. Use the taskmanager to close any HP program you see running and then try again. Also close any software you see running on the taskbar that relates to a printer.
