We successfully installed 4.3 on our server. Very happy.
The issue we are having now is we are getting the 1 user limit exceeded on our terminal servers. We have 4 terminal servers. I looked up this error and I copied the activate.pvx file as instructed and this did not resolve my issue.
I was looking up some old posts and it says you need to install the workstation setup using the Add Programs. Is this still the case? I'm not sure if my network person installed it this way. I think he did a remote session in the terminal server and then browed to find the wksetup in the MAS folder.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is my only issue with our upgrade.
Normally you reseller takes care of this. Have you spoken with them?
You run the wksetup program from the main data server. Copy that activate.pvx file from the data server to all the terminal servers you will be running mas from.
Also, make sure you have full access (read, write, modify) to all the MAS90 folders on the terminal servers and data server.
Also, YES. You need to use the add/remove program to run the install from the terminal servers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You can also use a dos command "change user /install", install the software, then when you are done, enter "change user /execute". Thats what you need to do when installing ANY program on a terminal server.
Why didn't you install v4.4 which has been out since 03/10? In fact v4.5 should be arriving on your door step any day now..
We are installing 4.3 because to go to 4.5 we would need to pay about $4k for custom enhancements. The sage enhancements worked correctly up to v4.3. Hopefully when cash flow is better we can upgrade to 4.5.
Anyway...From a terminal server session I am able to see that we have 11 licenses and 4 were being used. So I'm assuming the activate.pvx file is correct on the server??
If it is working on the terminal server, that is the best indication that all is well.
Everything within mas is working great, the only problem we are having is getting the terminal servers to see the correct activate.pvx file. We copied it from the Program Files directory on the server to the Program Files folder on the terminal server. My main question is could the activate.pvx file be incorrect? I ran workstaion set up on the MAS server and can actually see that I have 11 licenses.
It person check the rights and said he installed using Add/Remove programs from control panel.
I am at a loss for why we get the error on 1 user error on the terminal servers.
Your situation is not unusual. Below is the KB that addresses the situation. What is the date of the PVX file ? If you just installed v4.3, then the file date should be fairly recent.

Error "1 user limit exceeded, No valid activation found", when starting up Sage MAS 200 through Terminal Services or Citrix from more than one workstation
Entry Type: Program Issue
Product: Sage MAS 200 ERP, Sage MAS 200 ERP - SQL Server Edition
Application: System Setup
Version Reported: 3.50
Resolved on Sage MAS 200 3.70
Note: Workstation Setup must be run from within a Terminal Services (TS) or Citrix session. The system will detect the session and automatically copy Activate.pvx from the server to the ..\Mas90\Home\Lib\Keys folder on the TS/Citrix server. Note: If any changes are made to the User License, either rerun Workstation Setup through the TS/Citrix session again, or manually copy Activate.pvx from the server (see workaround below for instructions).
Subject: Error "1 user limit exceeded, No valid activation found", when starting up Sage MAS 200 through Terminal Services or Citrix, from more than one workstation. Note: This issue can also occur with TimeKeeper. See workaround below specific to TimeKeeper.
Note: For information on setting Sage MAS 200 up on Terminal Services or Citrix MetaFrame, see Appendix C "Running in a Terminal Server Environment", of the Sage MAS 200 Installation Guide. Also see the Supported Platform Matrix for supported configurations (Available on Sage Software Online).
Steps to Duplicate:
That is the document I have. We copied the Activate.pvx from theC:\Program Files\Sage Software\MAS200 Client\Version 4\MAS90\Home\Lib\Keys. Is this the correct activate.pvx I'm supposed to copy??
It sounds like the right one. Do users have permission to that file on the terminal server?
Is the path specified where you copied the file TO or where you copied it FROM?
That is where I copied the file from. The date on this file does not look current. I did a search on the activate.pvx on the server and there were 2 files. The one I stated in my previous post and then there is one on the C:\Sage Software\MAS200\Version 4\MAS90\Home\Lib\Keys. This Activate.pvx has a date of 10/22/11 which is the day I did the upgrade. Should this be the file I am copying???
The KB article is QUITE specific. Copy the activate.pvx file FROM the SERVER location specified TO the TS location specified! The current activate.pvx file on the SERVER contains the most current information. It needs to be copied to the TS.
BTW, issues like this should be answered by your reseller. They have a much better understanding of your system and how MAS works with it!
So the answer to my question is yes???
I understand about using our reseller, but times are tough at the moment and we are trying to save wherever we can.
Thank you for your help. I appreciate it.

It seems like you've been working on this for over a day with the activate.pvx file. Your reseller could have had this fixed in 5 minutes (that includes establishing a go to assist session with you).
Times are tough, we understand. Factoring in opportunity costs, you actually probably lost money by NOT having the reseller fix this.
Also, yes in answer to your question. Copy the activate.pvx file from the SERVER (where all your database tables are) to the TERMINALS (where you ran workstation setups).
What about the permissions question I asked before? Does the user in question have the rights to access the file on the TS?
