What do you want the external exe to do with the source file?  There is a way but that's some old stuff, would need to look it up or maybe one of the really old guys could remember.

Thanks for the response.  Basically, I want to rename and move the import file to a different location once the import completes successfully.

We have used a bat file for archiving. But it has to be run by the user or put on a scheduler.

thanks for the reply.  the import file name changes every time, so if I can find a way to pass the file name to a BAT file or .Net EXE, then I can make it work.

You can do this with a batch file attached to the job to run on job success.

Yes, it changes each time.  Can I reference it like a system variable... %importFile%.... or something similar?  I'm not familiar with perform command syntax.

The file name and location for each VI job is saved in the database in our 4.50 SQL version.  Table name is mas_system.dbo.VI_JobHeader  and the field name is ImportFileName.  Would expect a similar location in other versions.
