8900: A DirectLink error has occurred during the ConnectToFinSysEntity procedure

I have tried all of the suggestions in the KB article, I have reinstalled, applied SP12, tried different users, permissions, different workstations, XP Pro, Win7 Pro, Win8 Pro, Win2k8 Terminal Server, Win2k3 Terminal Server. Nothing seems to work.

The issue comes and goes and sometimes one user will have this error on our terminal server and another user will be able to login, select a company and run reports without any errors or issues at all.

Anyone have any other things I can try to do?

Here is what has worked in the past for me. Trying installing Visual C++ 2005 and 2008 on the machine(s) in question. That is one of the steps that is not actually listed on the KB. Since you are dealing with a server, I would also try disabling UAC (if relevant) and reinstall FRx client workstation and Frx67regcom as part o it but I would only do that if first step hasn't worked. If you need help outside of that, I might be able to remote connect and check it out.
