Yes, that was what I was thinking, I was just hoping that maybe there was some sort of hidden utility that wouldlet you change just the category.

So I guess I'll have to get busy with creating and merging...

I've done this with Data File Display and Maintenace.  The data in those fields is stored as a number, so you'll want to look at one that's set up correctly before you change the desired account(s).  Be sure to backup your General Ledger before using the utility, and run financial statements before and after the change to make sure the change was done correctly. 

You can renumber an account to move it to a different section.  Or, create a new account and use journal entries to move the balances from one to the other.
